Description
Bacopa Monnieri, Neer Brahmi Plant
It is a non-aromatic herb. The leaves of this plant are succulent, oblong and 4to6 mm (0.16 to 0.24 in) thick. Leaves are oblanceolate and are arranged oppositely (opposite decussate) on the stem. The flowers are small, actinomorphic and white, with four to five petals. Its ability to grow in water makes it a popular aquarium plant. It can even grow in slightly brackish conditions.
Easily grown in average, medium, well-drained soils in full sun to part shade. Prefers moist, fertile, well-drained loams, but adapts to a wide range of soil conditions. Good tolerance for urban conditions. Tolerant of heavy pruning, and may be grown as a hedge.
Planting and care
- Deadhead religiously and keep beds clean.
- Every leaf has a growth bud, so removing old flower blossoms encourages the plant to make more flowers instead of using the energy to make seeds.
- Clean away from around the base of the rosebushes any trimmed debris that can harbor disease and insects.Bacopa Monnieri can grow in full to partial sunlight and provide it consistently moist. Prefer slightly acid soil for planting. Water should be done early in the morning.
