🌿White Bird of Paradise Plant (Strelitzia nicolai)

The White Bird of Paradise is a striking tropical indoor plant known for its large, upright, banana-like leaves that create a bold, architectural look. Native to South Africa, this elegant plant brings a fresh, modern, and resort-style feel to interiors.

Unlike the orange variety, this species produces large white and blue flowers when mature, though indoors it is primarily grown for its dramatic foliage. Its tall, lush green leaves make it a perfect statement plant for living rooms, offices, and bright corners.

🌱 Indoor Care Guide

Light:
Thrives in bright, indirect light. It can tolerate some direct sunlight indoors, especially near a south- or west-facing window. More light encourages stronger growth.

Water:
Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil are dry. Keep soil slightly moist but never soggy. Ensure proper drainage to prevent root rot.

Soil:
Use a rich, well-draining potting mix. A blend of peat, perlite, and compost works best for healthy root development.

Fertilizer:
Feed monthly during spring and summer with a balanced liquid houseplant fertilizer. Reduce feeding in fall and winter.

Humidity:
Prefers moderate to high humidity. Mist occasionally or place near a humidifier for best results indoors.

Pruning & Maintenance:
Remove damaged or yellowing leaves from the base. Wipe leaves regularly with a damp cloth to remove dust and keep them glossy.

Repotting:
Repot every 2–3 years or when roots outgrow the pot. Slightly root-bound plants often grow stronger. Large plants can be divided carefully during repotting.

Blooming Indoors:
White Bird of Paradise rarely blooms indoors unless given very bright light and proper maturity (usually several years old). It is primarily appreciated as a bold foliage plant.

A tall, elegant indoor statement plant that adds height, greenery, and a tropical touch to any space.
